Dedicated to healthy nutrition for children in child care, for over 20 years
Canada has one of the safest and most abundant food supplies in the world. Yet one in six Canadian Children are poor and at risk of malnutrition. Children in all socioeconomic groups reflect parental habits which may not meet dietary recommendations of Canadaʼs food Guide. There is one place where all children are ensured of receiving nutritious snacks and meals, and that is Day Care.
A child has many needs that are met by parents and care providers including provision of snacks and meals. Food security is defined as "the state in which all people, at all times, have access to safe, nutritious, and personally acceptable foods by means that maintain human dignity." Choice Childrenʼs Catering regular menus are developed based on popularity and diversity by offering foods and meals from a variety of cultural diets. To provide for the progression of feeding requirements through early childhood, we offer menus where food texture is modified and portion specified for each age group.
Choice Childrenʼs Catering has since inception, in 1990 been a proud supporter of local food. We believe the purchase of local food supports the community health: farmers, food processors and fellow customers, our regional landscape as well as our local economy. The reduced carbon foot print is a significant benefit to the region as well as globally.
