John believes that positive food experiences begun in childhood are fundamental to the development of healthy habits and behaviors in later life. His academic years were spent earning a BA in biology at Queen's University, and a BSc in Nutrition Biochemistry at the University of Ottawa with an internship in Therapeutic Nutrition at the Kingston General Hospital.
After earning his degrees, John worked as a practitioner and counsellor in various organizations, including a stint as a restaurateur. He is a firm believer that food—especially food for children—should be interesting and tasty as well as nutritious. John is particular about the sources of the food he chooses for the firm—and has built partnerships with local producers. Over the years, he has developed systems to improve quality and productivity at Choice Children's Catering. His innovation also extends to developing ways to inform both parents and kids about better nutrition. John loves to cook and experiment with food ideas.

Choice Children's Catering Limited 1990
Following university, Patricia went into the food service business as an employee of Cultures Fresh Food. She wanted to learn everything and used this knowledge to rise through the ranks to become Corporate District Manager, overseeing 10 locations. While at Cultures, Patricia developed a successful catering program. Later, when the Tomas' saw a new opportunity to cater to children's day care centres, she was able to put her experience to good use.
Over the years, Patricia has dedicated herself to client needs, innovative ideas and overseeing an uncompromising high quality of customer service. She enjoys developing events and information for clients—including the CCC Recipe Club. This provides recipes and nutritional information materials designed to involve children in cooking at home or in the child care centre. Patricia is also an excellent cook and baker.
Both Tomas's have been inspired by the growth and development of their own daughter and son—both of whom spent many hours being cared for at "the business" when they were younger. This strong family unit extended to the firm's employees, who often go above and beyond to serve the customers.
